Are you doing enough of this for business success?
I wanted to share a story with you this week ☺ And I hope you don’t mind if I get a little bossy … lol!! Ok, so bossy is the wrong word… let’s say PASSIONATE! YES! That’s the word that usually describes me! Passionate, fiery, strategic, connector, positive and all around kick ass kinda gal. I NEVER let anything stop me from doing what I came here to do. So today I want to rub off on you a little ☺
So, today I’m going to tell you the ONE thing you likely are NOT doing, or are NOT doing enough that is a detriment to the success of your business.
Have you ever heard the phrase “the money is in the follow up”?? I’m sure you have, but are you LIVING it??
Did you know that when business owners meet someone who may be interested in their services,
- 50% of people stop after one try
- 65% stop after 2 “touches”
- And 79.8% after 3 touches…
That means a loss of clients 80% of the time.
Use This Strategy for Business Success
One of the strategies I teach my students, in depth, is how to effectively and systematically build a KIT Campaign™ into their marketing.
A KIT Campaign™ is more than just “keeping in touch”. It’s what’s known as Lead Nurturing. You have to nurture people, so WHEN they are ready to make a buying decision, you are the obvious choice.
So are you willing to STOP leaving money on the table? You are?? Great!!
First I want you to take an index card (yes, right now) and write this down in big fancy letters that get your attention… You will write:
“I NO LONGER leave money on the table because I’m not committed to the process”
Every day, look at that index card and remember that it is your DUTY to follow up! Not once, not twice, not 3 times, but as long as it takes!
I have had some VERY upsetting calls with people lately who are ready to give up on their businesses, they aren’t attracting enough clients, they aren’t making enough money and they feel overwhelmed and stressed at what will happen next if something doesn’t change.
BUT, when I ask them how much they’re marketing or if they’re following up, I usually get a bunch of excuses as to “why they can’t” … I call bullcrap! (I told you passion is coming out today!)
This is typically the list of excuses WHY people aren’t following up and WHY their businesses WILL fail.
It’s all stuck in the Mindset!!
Let’s talk about MINDSET and excuses you may USE for NOT following up:
Most of them are:
• I don’t have time.
• They didn’t respond to my 2 e-mails, how many more do I need to send?
• I don’t know what to send.
• I don’t want to be “salesy”.
• Afraid of “rejection”.
• Don’t want to “bother” people.
• If they’re interested, they’ll call.
THIS is exactly why most businesses fail, because quite frankly they aren’t willing to do the work. Then when things don’t work and they don’t get enough clients, they want to jump ship and try a NEW business… Oh – ok: because THAT will work? You’re willing to just move onto a new business, offer a new service, or change your target market? NOW, YES, those strategies CAN help. If you have the wrong target, you may have to change the “who” you serve. Yes, you may have to change your business model (how you deliver your services).
But! I guarantee you will find yourself in the SAME situation of lack of clients if you’re NOT doing the work ☹
Ok, now that I like pulled all your energy to the ground (sorry – reality bites, right?) I intend to PULL you BACK up!!
Business Success Story
Karen, one of my students of the Concierge Academy knows ALL too well that the KIT Campaign™ is absolutely positively necessary for business success. Just last week she shared this in our private FB group …
“Just wanted to share – I was talking to my accountability buddy this afternoon about the KIT campaign. I have a woman who has been on my list since late last spring. She keeps scheduling time to talk, but never calls. Out of the blue, she emailed me and we finally connected by phone today! Eight months later! I told her that great minds think alike and I was going to email her this week. She thanked me for continuing to try to connect with her! Kelly Schaefer has said that people need to feel personal pain to get to the point where they ask for help. This woman actually said, “we are at a point where we are beginning to feel pain due to our jobs and kids schedules”. Kelly knows her stuff!!!”
8 Months!!! I ask you, do you have a process in PLACE that would keep you following up for 8 months?? If not, that’s your assignment this week… CREATE a systematic follow up process and KIT strategy. Doing this ONE thing will change the trajectory of your business.
