Concierge Business Success
Can you believe it?? We are already 2+ weeks into this glorious new journey we call 2017!!
Have you fully planned out 2017 yet?? My assistant Jill and I started the year spending about 12 hrs together reviewing all that went well in 2016, what we could improve on, and the BIG 10 power projects we will use to plan and create awesomeness in my concierge business this year – this year of 2017!
This of course happened after I spent 2 days masterminding with my entrepreneur peeps I collaborate with every quarter as part of the coaching program I am part of. You see, what I have learned is that I do NOT want to do this alone. Quite frankly… it’s too damn hard!!
Entrepreneurship is NOT for the faint of heart. It takes persistence, deliberation and a great deal of resilience to stay in business. That’s WHY I choose NOT to be on this journey alone… I invest in myself and my concierge business because quite frankly, I’m worth it! And the reality is, my business didn’t TRULY take off until I invested in myself. It’s this crazy secret phenomenon that people talk about that you don’t quite “get” ’til you live it…
When I’m prepping and preparing for a New Year, I always go back and think about the things that have WORKED, so that I do more of THAT in the new year.
Soooooo today I am going to share with you 3 of the biggest ways I have propelled things in my business AND in my personal life.
I get asked all the time “Kelly how did you grow your concierge business” ,“what worked and what didn’t”? To be honest, I could talk to you for days and days and days about my personal journey and experiences and that’s exactly why I started the Concierge Academy. My goal is to SHORTEN your path because all those books you read that tell you that you can do this successfully, with 500 bucks and a smile, are a crock! ( ok- rant over ☺ )
Doing these 3 things have been PARAMOUNT to my success!!

Hands down networking is THE #1 way to get clients. You will not gain clients from behind your computer screen! Shocker yes…
This is one of the biggest pitfalls of people in ANY industry that provides “personal services”. Many people think having a website or a newsletter will bring hordes of clients ringing their phone. But that is NOT the case.
By networking, you are out being “visible”, making connections and starting relationships.
The fact is that what we offer is often very personal, our clients have to know and like us, and it’s our job to help them trust us.
If you aren’t doing it already, be sure you are networking a minimum of 8 times a month. Yes, I said 8x a month!!
Are you willing to do what it takes to be successful? Then this is NON-NEGOTIABLE!! You absolutely MUST be out connecting, and meeting new people, sharing with everyone who is willing to listen to WHAT you do and whom you do it for. But there are also “wrong” ways of networking too! If you haven’t been getting clients through your networking efforts, you’re likely giving up to soon, or you are doing it incorrectly.
2. Hiring a Mentor/Business Coach
To be completely honest, this was one of the hardest things for me to do in the beginning. First off, I felt as if I didn’t need anyone to teach me anything. I could easily go online and find all the free resources and information in the world to make my business a success. I was flat WRONG!
And secondly, I had NO budget to do such a thing!
I quickly realized though, to get ahead I needed to be more disciplined, act faster on opportunities and have someone in my corner cheering me each step of the way. I did mention how hard this entrepreneurship thing is right??
What I really needed was someone who was a few rungs higher on the ladder, who could teach me and cut my learning curve in half! You can learn vast amounts of information and ingest it so much easier through other people’s experiences, whether they are positive or negative.
If you haven’t yet done so, consider working with someone a few rungs above on the ladder for you to learn from.
A good business coach will guide you as to WHAT to do and what NOT to do. We each have a finite amount of time to market ourselves and our services. Focusing on proven strategies, while NOT wasting time on the wrong marketing, is what will speed up your success.
3. Saying YES to opportunities
In the beginning, fear often held me back. I was afraid to say yes to speaking engagements or traveling for mastermind groups.
My comfort zone was that… My comfort zone.
What I quickly learned is that all the amazing things that did unfold for me were the result of stepping OUTSIDE that comfort zone (even when I was kicking and screaming inside my head).
Say YES to every opportunity that is moving you towards your goals. Even if you aren’t sure how you’re gonna make it happen, or how you can afford to invest in something that will significantly bring you closer to THAT goal.
Say YES… then figure out how to make it happen!
Look around at your current concierge business. What opportunities have you been presented with that you haven’t said yes to yet?
Have you been asked to speak for a local group? Have you been invited to sponsor a local event?
Say yes… and watch what unfurls as a result of stepping out of your comfort zone!
Just last week one of my students in the Concierge Academy sent her VERY 1st newsletter!! OMG!! I was like a proud Mama! This had been a stumbling block and a comfort zone thing for her for some time. I have coached her through the logistics and how to create content, but most importantly the MINDSET of getting past that comfort zone, and doing it!!
And you know what happened?? She got a client from that newsletter!! Whaaattt?? The reality is, she actually got a client because she said YES and stepped out of her comfort zone and this was the reward for doing so ☺ I’m still so giddy happy for her!!
Your assignment this week
So in a nutshell. If you want to succeed at this biz do these 3 things:
- Network – Like crazy
- Hire a mentor or business coach to help you minimize the wasted time (I would LOVE to be that for you when the time is right)!
- Say YES when it hurts!! (not like ripping a limb off hurts, but more like that fear that bubbles up when you’re on a roller coaster hitting the peak and you’re terrified of the drop! THAT kinda feeling ☺ )
I hate to break it to you…
A large number of people in the concierge business industry never make it past $35,000 a year. They haven’t fully committed and for that I get MAD!! Because the books that have been published claim an easy road to success… The reality is, this is NOT easy work and success is NOT guaranteed. Put the work in my friend, say YES to a bigger future… You were born for a reason… to say YES to your dream.
